We're all feeling overwhelmed these days - simultaneously like we're doing too much and not enough, so today's prescription is to baby step our way through the winter, recognizing that all the little things will add up to form something greater. Let's focus our thousand yard stare down to a single point of light, and work from within that tiny glow.

As Ysha AKA Activist Witch told me in our interview this week, "If an action feels too small, just think of it as phase one."

Zoe came up to Canada for a visit and on a creative whim, she and I challenged ourselves to create a short film of her poem In Praise of the Wytch - from recording the audio, to shooting the video, to editing and uploading - all in one day. We began, and eight hours later we were finished and our short was out in the world.

You see, not everything we do has to be some big budget, long term production. Sometimes small actions, unweighted by expectations, not burdened by perfectionism, can bear the most fruit.

As the darkest days of the year approach, and the sun slips away, let's gear up for the holidays by going easy on ourselves, loosening the ropes of feeling Not Good Enough and be free to think of ourselves in miniature, one step, one day at a time.

Every day is another Phase One of a grand scheme, a spell that is seventy thousand years in the making (the earliest known evidence of a snake ritual is a 70,000-year-old stone carving of a python's head in a cave in Botswana).

We are Witches who work on a timeline outside of capitalist urgency, outside the confines of a single lifetime, full in the knowledge that our magic has a rippling effect that undulates through all time.
